Coronavirus Update

05/01/21 - 09:00 - National Lockdown - ALL STORES TO CLOSE

Unfortunately following the Prime Ministers announcement last night all our retail stores are closed until further notice.

Orders can still be placed on our website during Lockdown. 

Our delivery service and manufacturing partners will still be continuing (correct at time of publication) We will endeavour to deliver all orders in line with your current lead times in a safe and Covid secure way. 

Small delays are anticipated and unfortunately inevitable. This will be mainly due to absenteeism within the manufacturing stage. Unfortunately this is out of our control. Should we receive updates from manufacturers any customers affected will be contacted where possible.

31/12/20 - 09:00 - Update - Tier 4 stores to close - All other stores to open 7 days a week from 04/01/2021

Which of your stores are closed? Unfortunately, our Lincoln, Worksop and Sheffield sites all fall in post code areas that are now in Tier 4. These stores will temporarily close with immediate effect. 

Which stores are open? Our Castleford, Doncaster and Barnsley stores will remain open with temporary extended opening hours. These stores will now open 10am - 4pm, 7 days a week! 

Want to visit a store that is open? Appointments are available, but are not essential. Appointments can be booked via Facebook by clicking the "Book Now" blue button or over the phone by contacting the relevant store you would like to visit. If a store is at customer capacity then you may have a small wait until you are able to enter. So, booking in advance is recommended if you do not wish to wait.

Are you still delivering? All our delivery services will continue as normal where possible. We have an "adapted" no contact delivery in place in areas of high risk. This will ensure that very little disruption is made to customer deliveries. Our delivery teams will explain what this means when booking in your delivery once your order is ready to be despatched. 

What if I have a question about my existing order? We will still be answering all customer queries by email 

Will my order be delayed? All our manufacturing partners are remaining open during this period (correct at time of publication) However we expect some delays due to absenteeism on factory floors as staff continue to follow current guidelines for self-isolation if showing symptoms and/or testing positive for COVID-19. 

If my local store is closed, how can I pay for my order before delivery? We have a few different ways which payments can be made remotely from the comfort of your home (bank transfer for example). Our delivery team will advise of the process when scheduling your delivery. Alternatively you may visit another store if it is essential. Please be sure you conform to current guidelines regarding travel before making your visit.

27/11/20 - 14:00 - Update - Stores Opening Thursday 03/12

We are looking forward to welcoming customers old and new back into our stores on Thursday December 3rd.

20/11/20 – 11:00 - Update – Manufacturing

When the November lockdown was announced the Government advised that manufacturers may remain open. This was a huge relief for all furniture manufacturers and retailers as the demand across the whole country has been tremendous since coming back from the March lockdown. The huge support from customers has ensured that British furniture manufacturers and retailers alike have well and truly bounced back after their doors were closed, in some extreme cases for up to 12 weeks since the end of March. 

Our manufacturing partners have been working hard to produce orders within strict new working guidelines for the safety of all staff members. All our manufacturing partners have been able to adapt to ensure they can continue to produce furniture, whilst ensuring all working environments within manufacturing settings remain Covid-19 secure. 

The main challenge that continues to affect production, which unfortunately is almost impossible to manage is absenteeism of skilled workers on factory floors. All manufacturers are following the rules and advice set out by the Government and PHE. Should any staff member show symptoms they must self-isolate and get a test. If they test positive, people who they have been in close contact with may also have to self-isolate where necessary. This means that staff within factories may be absent for periods of up to 2 weeks.

With members of the production team not at work, this obviously has a knock-on effect with order production. From sewing machine operatives to upholsterers, these are all skilled jobs which require a skilled worker to complete them. If one link in the production chain is missing, then all customer orders are unfortunately affected.

Contrary to the recent positive Coronavirus news in the media regarding vaccines etc. The existing rules are still in place and people are still affected by the virus on a daily basis. Covid-19 has not yet gone away and continues to cause problems within most industries.

Raw material shortages are also affecting most British upholstery manufacturers. Particularly foam for upholstery production. Shortages of foam have led to some manufacturers only operating a 3-day week and some even closing their doors for a week or so as it’s impossible to complete orders without foam. This has also potentially caused a delay with the production of a small number of orders. Lead times for new orders should not be affected.  

Please be assured that everyone at KC Sofas and our manufacturing partners are working hard to get customers orders out as soon as possible, but the health, safety and wellbeing of all staff members will always come first.

We are currently experiencing average order delays of around 21 days with some suppliers. If you have got a guaranteed Christmas delivery order and have not been contacted, your order should be unaffected.

We are extremely sorry for the delays with order production and thank all our customers for the continued support, understanding and patience during these difficult times.

Due to the Government announcement on Saturday evening, all of our retail stores will be closing from Thursday November 5th until Thursday December 3rd at the earliest. Our online store and phone lines will be fully functional throughout this period. 

Manufacturing and delivery services will be continuing (correct at the time of publishing) This will only change if the Government advise any changes. We aim to deliver every sofa in line with your order lead time, however delays are anticipated and unfortunately out of our control. We will update this page should the situation change.  

If your query is of an urgent nature, please call 0330 124 4736 (Selecting the relevant store where your purchase was made) Please note that delivery dates will not be advised by store teams as these are issued by our despatch team who will contact you directly once your order has been delivered into our warehouse and is ready for delivery.  

Our team members will be working from home from Thursday 5th November and will be on hand to assist customer queries via Facebook, email and phone. Our teams will be available Monday - Friday | 10am - 4pm. 

If you would like an update on order arrival dates please email and we will try our best to answer your query promptly. 

While our stores are closed any outstanding balances can be taken using our remote payment system or payments can be made by Bank Transfer. Our despatch team will explain and arrange this when advising of your delivery date and time slot.
